Behind every Tommy Camper build is more than aluminium and wiring. There’s guidance, experience, and deep understanding of what makes a great overlanding setup. And that’s where Mark comes in.
Meet Mark! Tommy Campers’ Sales and Marketing Manager.
If you’ve enquired about a build, specced up a tray, or talked about power systems and cooking setups, chances are you’ve already spoken to him.
Meet Mark!

Mark’s love for 4WDing and adventure started early. And with that we mean, very early.
Growing up on a property at Rowley Creek near Walcha in country NSW, he learned to drive at around six years old. Camping trips in an old 40 series Landcruiser laid the foundation for a lifelong obsession with off-road touring.
Later, alongside schoolmate Pat Callinan, Mark helped build some of Australia’s most recognised 4WD media brands, including 4WD Monthly (4WD Action), Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures on Network 10, Unsealed 4X4, and RV Daily. He was also involved in launching Club 4X4 Insurance and later started A247 Gear, which was eventually sold to HEMA Maps.
So when he says he understands overlanding, it’s not theory. It’s a lived experience.
“I’ve always loved the 4X4 and overlanding scene. And to be honest, I can’t believe I’m back in it!”
Why Tommy Campers?
Mark first discovered Tommy Campers through good friends Wim and Sam from Bush and Bay, who purchased a custom S6X Tommy Campers for their Dual Cab LC79.
At the time, he hadn’t seen a Tommy in person. But once he did? He was hooked!
A part-time opportunity to run the Coolum outlet popped up, and he jumped at it. What started as a new chapter quickly became something more.
“Little did I know just how much I’d enjoy the role and working with the team. It’s been an incredible journey ever since.”

Mark’s day-to-day role
As Sales and Marketing Manager, Mark’s day-to-day revolves around helping new and existing customers design the right expedition setup for how they actually travel.
That means:
- Guiding vehicle selection
- Recommending tray and camper configurations
- Advising on power systems and components
- Matching builds to lifestyle, not trends
“When I’m not working directly with customers, I collaborate with our valued 4X4, RV, and camping industry partners worldwide, testing, integrating, and promoting their gear across our Tommy Campers builds to ensure we’re delivering the highest quality, real-world-ready setups.”
It’s not about selling a camper, it’s about building the right one.
Mark’s dream build
If Mark could build his dream set up, he knows exactly what he wants:
For himself and the boss – aka his wife, Abby – he’d build an Ineos with a 300mm wheelbase extension, portals and a custom Tommy Camper S6X, finished in British Green and black.
“I grew up helping my old man restore V8 Morgans and MGBs, so I’ve always loved that classic British racing green and black colour combination. Some things just never go out of style.”
Tommy Campers Most Underrated Feature
For Mark, it’s simple.
“The hot water shower system.”
After a surf at Noosa National Park, nothing beats a proper hot rinse. This, together with his $49 induction cooktop for brewing coffee at the beach. Now that’s living.

Tips for New Tommy Owners
Think carefully about how you cook and how you actually use your setup. Do you really need a big gas bottle? Or would induction suit you better?
“Less is often more. You can always add gear later as your needs evolve.”
Build for now. Upgrade when required.
Why he loves the Tommy Community
For Mark, the Tommy Campers community is the true measure of the brand.
“Whenever we welcome new customers, I say, “Welcome to the Tommy Campers family.” And that’s exactly what it is.”
Owners return for second and third builds. They upgrade. They recommend, and they share their adventures. Loyalty speaks volumes.
Mark’s advice
“Life’s short. Don’t let work take over. Find that balance and get out there using your Tommy as much as you can.”
And Mark lives by those words. He doesn’t work on Fridays, so every weekend feels like a long week. Perfect for him to take Coolum Tom – 2024 Ford Ranger with Tommy Camper S6X – out on adventures!
