What’s the difference between an S8 Slide-On camper and an S8X slide-on camper?
We offer an X-version for all three S-models; you’ll gain added interior space and a slightly different look. The additional cost for the X-version is $2,990.

I looked at every tray back camper on the market over a couple of years and decided on the Tommy.
The service from Jason and the team couldn’t have been better in both the building of the camper and also, the building of my custom tray to suit!
The camper is just fantastic! A breeze to set up (you can literally be in bed in 30 seconds from when you pull up!) and everything is just where you need it to be. We’ve used it for a few trips now and just keep enjoying it more. We optioned a lot of extras and are very glad we did. The heater is a wonderful addition and warms it up in no time for those frosty desert nights.
The job on the tray is also first class (I’m a qualified technician who’s super fussy) and we’ve not had one issue with it. The rear drawer and side storage are brilliant and easy to use.

Is a Tommy Camper S8 the right slide-on camper for me?
Typically, the build starts with ute configuration (Dual Cab, Extra Cab or Single Cab). The configuration will determine the tray length (1850mm, 2100mm, or 2400mm), and the tray length will then determine the camper type (S4, S6, or S8).
Do I need a Tommy tray?
We build our trays here at Tommy Campers, and believe they’re some of the coolest and strongest on the market. However, our campers don’t only fit on our trays; they also fit on any tray – both genuine OEM and aftermarket trays.
Can I fit a Tommy camper on a tub?
All Tommy Campers are built for trays, so the tub on your ute needs to be replaced with a tray.
Is a Tommy Camper S8 heavy?
348kg! That’s the weight of an empty S8 Model shell. Yes, you can say a Tommy Camper S8 is a lightweight aluminium slide-on camper!
What’s the Difference between an s8 and an s8x?
